Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu
- 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Directions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 2. Press the tofu block between layers of paper towels or a clean kitchen towel to remove excess moisture.
- 3. Cut the tofu into 1/2-inch thick slices.
- 4. In a small bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, honey (or maple syrup), soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
- 5. Place the tofu slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 6. Brush the BBQ sauce mixture on both sides of each tofu slice, ensuring they are well coated.
- 7. Bake the tofu for 20 minutes, then flip the slices and brush with more sauce. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
